Azerbaijan welcomes over 735,000 visitors in first four months of 2025

Between January and April of this year, 735,800 foreigners and stateless persons from 174 countries visited Azerbaijan — marking a 1.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the State Statistical Committee, 70.2% of the visitors were men and 29.8% were women. Among them, 24.2% arrived from the Russian Federation, followed by 18% from Türkiye, 11% from India, 9% from Iran, 4.7% from Georgia, 3.6% from Kazakhstan, 2.9% from Pakistan, 2.5% from Saudi Arabia, and 2.2% from the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, 1.9% came from Israel, 1.8% each from Uzbekistan and China, 1.5% from Ukraine, 1.4% from Turkmenistan, 1.1% from Kuwait, 1% from Belarus, and 11.4% from other countries.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of visitors from Israel increased by 2.8 times; from Tajikistan, 2 times; from China, 1.7 times; from Jordan, 45.6%; from India, 32.9%; from Kyrgyzstan, 32.1%; from Spain, 28.8%; from Japan, 26.7%; from Pakistan, 22.5%; from the United States, 20.2%; from Kazakhstan, 17.7%; from the United Arab Emirates, 16.6%; from Canada, 15.5%; from the Netherlands, 10.7%; and from Italy and Egypt, 10%.
Compared to January–April 2024, the number of visitors from European Union member states increased by 1.8%, reaching 27,800 people. The number of arrivals from Gulf countries decreased by 3.4% to 117,800, while arrivals from CIS countries dropped by 9.2% to 243,000. Meanwhile, arrivals from other countries rose by 12.2%, totaling 347,200 people.
Regarding the mode of transport, 71.8% of the foreigners and stateless persons visiting Azerbaijan used air travel, 26.6% used rail or road, and 1.6% arrived by sea.
In the same period, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 0.9%, amounting to 632,700 people. The number of Azerbaijani travelers to Iran increased by 25.9%, and to Georgia by 20.4%, while travel to Türkiye decreased by 6.3%, and to the Russian Federation by 26.4%.
Among Azerbaijani citizens who traveled abroad, 36.1% went to Türkiye, 16.1% to the Russian Federation, 11.1% to Georgia, 11% to Iran, and 25.7% to other countries. Of these travelers, 66.9% were men and 33.1% were women.
During the same period, 68% of Azerbaijani citizens traveled abroad by air, 29.9% by land or rail, and 2.1% by sea.
