Azerbaijan, World Bank expand cooperation in public enterprise monitoring

First Deputy Finance Minister Anar Karimov met with Serdar Yilmaz, Practice Manager for the Public Finance and Procurement Unit at the World Bank, and Stefanie Stallmeister, World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank, with particular emphasis on ongoing and planned initiatives in public financial management.
Anar Karimov emphasized Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to cooperation with the World Bank, noting its key role in improving public financial management. He added that recent reforms in monitoring state-owned enterprises have enhanced transparency and accountability, with further measures planned.
Serdar Yilmaz welcomed the long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan, hailed the reforms in state-owned enterprise monitoring, and reiterated the World Bank’s readiness to provide technical support.
The meeting also included discussions on potential World Bank technical assistance projects and the tasks of the State Agency for Monitoring of State Enterprises, with both sides stressing the importance of experience-sharing and expanding joint initiatives.
