Azerbaijani Ambassador makes presentation at Japanese NGO
Tokyo, February 5 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismayilzade gave a presentation on Azerbaijan at the Minato UNESCO NGO.
This organization conducts seminars and international symposiums in Japan dealing with intercultural dialogues. Ismayilzade became the first ambassador to speak at this organization.
The event was attended by representatives of the business community, general public of Tokyo, professors and students of some universities.
Opening the event, Director of Minato UNESCO Yoshiko Nagato expressed gratitude for the presentation on Azerbaijan and the opportunity to learn more about the country.
The Ambassador congratulated the participants of the event on Tokyo`s winning the bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. He said that the capital of Azerbaijan was also among bidders to host the Olympic Games, adding Baku will be hosting the first European Games in 2015.
The Ambassador extended his congratulations on the occasion of Japanese cuisine Washoko`s inclusion into the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List at the UNESCO international conference in Baku.
The presentation provided an insight into the successes gained by the country in recent years thanks to the measures undertaken by the leadership of Azerbaijan. The Ambassador provided information about the state symbols of Azerbaijan, its geographical location, nature, economy, energy policy, projects implemented. The diplomat told of the measures taken in the country to develop tourism.
Ismayilzade elaborated on the activity of First Lady of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva. He highlighted Aliyeva`s contribution to the development of fruitful ties between Azerbaijan and UNESCO. He noted that she pays a special attention to popularization of the cultural heritage, customs and tradition of Azerbaijan all over the world and exerts no efforts to protect samples of culture and national values.
The ambassador pointed out that Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded a title of the goodwill ambassador in 2004 for her contribution to development of the traditional music, literature and poetry, exchange of musical education and values of the world culture and dedication to the UNESCO ideals.
He also added that Aliyeva was bestowed a title of the ISESCO goodwill ambassador in 2006 for her multifaceted activity in encouraging the intercivilizational dialogue, for attention for kids in need of care, improvement of their living conditions, education and supporting projects being implemented in the Islamic world.
The Ambassador also touched upon the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by Mehriban Aliyeva.
He provided an insight into the history, causes and present state of the peace talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, fair position of the country.
