Azerbaijani Ambassador presents credentials to Laotian President
Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Lao People`s Democratic Republic Anar Imanov has presented his credentials to President Choummaly Sayasone.
The Ambassador conveyed greetings and best wishes of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev to the Laotian leader.
The diplomat said Azerbaijan attached great importance to developing cooperation with Laos.
Imanov noted he would spare no efforts to contribute to expanding the Azerbaijan-Laos cooperation.
President Choummaly Sayasone asked the diplomat to convey his greetings and best wishes to President Ilham Aliyev.
The Laotian President congratulated Imanov on his appointment, and wished him successes during his tenure.
The President said he believes appointment of first Azerbaijani Ambassador to Laos would contribute to developing bonds between the two countries.
Imanov noted foundation of the Azerbaijan-Laos relations had been laid as early as the Soviet Union, adding the Laotian youth received education in Azerbaijani universities at that time.
The Ambassador said there was big potential to enhance cooperation between the two countries, and stressed the importance of boosting relations in political, economic and humanitarian fields.
The diplomat briefed the Laotian President on Armenian aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijan`s social and economic development, infrastructure projects in the region, the country`s achievements in the field of energy, and the development of non-oil sector.
President Sayasone underlined the importance of exploring mutual investment opportunities, exchanging new technologies, as well as developing trade ties.
