Azerbaijani and Turkish communities in Germany’s Baden-Württemberg celebrate Ramadan and Novruz

Azerbaijani and Turkish communities operating in the German state of Baden-Württemberg have held extensive celebrations for the holidays of Ramadan and Novruz.
Speakers at the festive event emphasized the special importance of preserving national and spiritual values, as well as promoting them within Germany.
The Turkish Consul General in Stuttgart, Makbule Koçak Kaçar, noted that the Ramadan and Novruz holidays are an integral part of a shared cultural heritage. She stated that such events serve as an important platform for strengthening solidarity and maintaining national identity for brotherly communities living abroad.
Günay Mirzayeva, Chairperson of the Stuttgart Azerbaijan Culture Center and Azerbaijan House, provided detailed information on the historical roots, philosophical essence, and rich cultural heritage of the Novruz holiday. She emphasized that Novruz symbolizes not only the arrival of spring but also renewal, unity, and solidarity. Mirzayeva added that holding such celebrations within a diaspora environment is of particular significance for preserving national identity and passing it on to future generations.
Members of the Turkish diaspora in Germany, Güner Öztel and Cevdet Başbuğ, highlighted the importance of community activity in strengthening a unity based on common ancestry and shared values. In this regard, the necessity of organizing such events to promote and transmit a rich national cultural heritage to the younger generation was noted.
The most memorable moment of the event was the lighting of the Novruz bonfire. In accordance with tradition, participants gathered around the bonfire and jumped over it, keeping ancient customs alive.
