Azerbaijani Armed Forces Day celebrated in London
London, June 27 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijani Military Attaché Office in the Great Britain has arranged an event to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by British Minister for International Security Strategy Andrew Murrison, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff Lieutenant General James Everard, generals and officials of the Defence Ministry, foreign ambassadors and military attachés accredited in London, as well as members of the Azerbaijani community.
Ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov made opening remarks at the event. He spoke of the Azerbaijani government’s care and attention to army building.
The ambassador said Azerbaijan’s army had become the strongest army in the region due to reforms carried out since the country`s regaining its independence.
Azerbaijani military attaché at the Embassy Vugar Ahmadov highlighted the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces and army building process in Azerbaijan.
He said that despite Azerbaijan’s 20 per cent of lands were under the Armenian occupation, the country’s army was contributing to the international security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.
He also spoke of the Azerbaijan-Great Britain military ties.
Minister Andrew Murrison hailed the expansion of the Azerbaijan-Great Britain relations in a variety of fields.
The event featured demonstration of promotional videos on the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
