Azerbaijani Defence Minister meets Serbian counterpart
Baku, August 12 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Defence Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has today met Serbian counterpart Bratislav Gasic.
Prior to the meeting, a Serbian delegation led by the Minister visited the Alley of Honours to lay a wreath at the tomb of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
They also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.
At the meeting with the participation of the two countries` delegations, Minister Zakir Hasanov stressed the importance of negotiations and meetings he held in Serbia.
He hailed the development of military cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking on the military and political situation in the region, as well as security issues, Hasanov said both Azerbaijan and Serbia have suffered from separatism.
Touching upon the important strategic cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries, the Serbian Minister said his country had always supported Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The sides also discussed military education between Azerbaijan and Serbia, as well as prospects for cooperation in the military and technical fields.
