Azerbaijani delegate attends ITU Global Youth Summit in Costa Rica
Baku, September 10 (AZERTAC). Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth European Integration Organization Gulsel Safarova has attended the International Telecommunications Union`s (ITU) “BYND 2013” Global Youth Summit in Costa Rica.
The summit aimed to capture the global voice of youth and transmit their shared concerns and proposals to world leaders, through a crowd-sourced, multimedia statement to the United Nations General Assembly session in September 2013.
The summit brought together 500 young people from around the world together - both physically and virtually - to participate in a series of workshops, presentations and conversations around four key development streams: youth employment; e-health; cyber security; and the environment.
Azerbaijan`s Safarova has delivered a report at “The Youth, Information Technologies and Innovations" session held as a part of the forum. She reported about Azerbaijan`s achievements in the field of information and communications technologies, as well as State programs on ICT.
The session was also attended by Leonardo Garnier Rimolo, Costa Rica`s Minister of Public Education, ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Touré and Special Adviser to the Secretary for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman.
The BYND2015 Global Youth Summit is a platform for young people to lend their voice and influence decisions at the United Nations on the Future We Want.
