Azerbaijani delegation attends 4th session of UN-GGIM in New York
New-York, August 13 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation led by chairman of the State Committee for Land and Cartography Garib Mammadov has attended the fourth session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) held at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The agenda of the session included discussions on geospatial information management and need for strengthened collaboration and joined initiatives, advance development and use of geospatial data and tools to support global sustainable development.
The session ended with the adoption of a resolution. The attendees decided to establish a working group on preparation of topics to be discussed by the Expert Committee.
The attendees have backed the proposal of the International Cartographic Association on declaration of 2015 as International Map Year.
The Azerbaijani delegation also attended the consultations of the executive council of the regional committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific.
