Azerbaijani delegation attends Crans Montana Forum
Baku, October 25 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation has attended the 15th annual session of the International Summit on Transnational Crime of the Crans Montana Forum in Brussels, Belgium.
The event discussed a number of issues, including new terror threats and their impact on international business and the oil and gas industry, protection of national infrastructure, corruption, fight against cybercrime and national and global security.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, chief of Department for Work with Law Enforcement Bodies of Azerbaijan Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov informed the attendees on legal reforms and achieved successes under the leadership of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the country`s contribution to international fight against terrorism. He also underlined the increase of transparency in state bodies and steps undertaken to simplify state services, using modern information technologies, as well as stressed the opening of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovation and its “ASAN Xidmət” Centers, established by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
He said economic and social reforms implemented by the Azerbaijani President have provided stability and development for the country in the period, when world faced serious economic crisis. Alasgarov stressed the reforms being conducted in Azerbaijan, the vivid evidence of which is the magnificent victory of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in elections.
The attendees heard reports by Azerbaijan`s deputy minster of national security Ali Shafiyev, chairman of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovation Inam Karimov and chief of General Prosecutor Office`s Department to Combat Corruption Kamran Aliyev.
In his report, Shafiyev spoke of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, which, he said, resulted with occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and its seven surrounding regions, as well as existence of terror organizations in the South Caucasus and neighbouring regions, adding terrorism is a threat to international energy projects being implemented by Azerbaijan.
He stressed the importance for strengthening fights against terrorism.
Chairman of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovation Inam Karimov informed the attendees on the activity of the “ASAN Xidmət” Center. He noted the model of the “ASAN Xidmət” Center is important in combat against corruption and in increase in the quality of state service.
Addressing the session, chief of General Prosecutor Office`s Department to Combat Corruption Kamran Aliyev said the fight against corruption was set by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev as key priority duty.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium, head of the Azerbaijani permanent delegation to the European Union Fuad Isgandarov attended the event.
Azerbaijani delegation also held meetings with the founder and executive director of the Crans Montana Forum, the ISESCO director general, the head of the OSCE Baku Office, the State Secretary of Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgarian MPs from the European Parliament and other officials.
