Azerbaijani delegation attends regional forum in Rabat
Baku, September 25 (AZERTAC). A regional forum on prevention of violence against women was held in Rabat, Morocco on September 24-25.
The event was co-organized by Morocco`s Ministry of Solidarity, Woman, Family and Social Development, Council of Europe and Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event by deputy chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, Aynur Sofiyeva, deputy chairperson of the department of foreign relations and protocol service, Kamala Hagverdiyeva and charge d’affaires Ilham Aliyev.
The forum was opened by Morocco`s Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkiran. The country`s minister of solidarity, woman, family and social development Bassima Hakkaoui spoke of the importance of the event.
Aynur Sofiyeva delivered a report at the event on “Prevention of violence against women, prospects for Europe-Mediterranean partnership.” She highlighted the progress made in her country to fight violence against women, particularly projects carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this direction.
The forum was attended by representatives of the Council of Europe, ministers for family, women and children of Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, representatives of relevant ministries of various countries.
On the sidelines of the forum Aynur Sofiyeva met Morocco`s minister of solidarity, woman, family and social development Bassima Hakkaoui. They underlined the necessity of expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco on family, women and children affairs.
The sided also stressed the importance of cooperation within international organizations and mutual support for Nagorno-Karabakh and Western Sahara conflicts.
