Azerbaijani FM attends ISAF Foreign Ministerial Meeting in Brussels
Baku, December 4 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today attended the ISAF Foreign Ministerial Meeting in Brussels at the NATO Headquarters.
The ISAF ministers reiterated their commitment to continue to support Afghan security forces after 2014, they called for a timely signature of the Bilateral Security Agreement between the United States and Afghanistan, which will pave the way for NATO to establish its own legal framework for its new mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces after 2014.
Addressing the meeting, Azerbaijan’s top diplomat said the country as a potential operational partner was ready to support Afghanistan in a variety of fields after 2014.
The FM described relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan as strategic and fraternal. The FM noted Azerbaijan would spare no efforts to render assistance to Afghanistan.
Mr Elmar Mammadyarov also held a number of bilateral meetings as part of his visit.
