Azerbaijani ICT minister visits US
Baku, September 10 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan’s Minister of Information and Communication Technologies Ali Abbasov has visited New York, the US.
Abbasov delivered a report at the 98th plenary session of the 67th General Assembly of the UN.
The Minister also met UD Under Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo and Administrator of the UN Development Programme Helen Clark. They discussed Azerbaijan`s role in the UN projects.
Abbasov has met Ambassador, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy Daniel A. Sepulveda. They discussed ways of boosting relations in the fields of ICT.
The delegation also held an event on Azerbaijan, which brought together representatives of the diplomatic corpus accredited at UN, as well as officials of Azerbaijan and local Diaspora.
Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev was also present at the meetings.
The draft resolution on the establishment of Eurasian Communications Alliance put up for discussion in the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Ministries of Communication and Information Technologies and Foreign Affairs was unanimously adopted by all United Nations member states.
Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev presented the draft resolution to the members of the assembly.
