Azerbaijani jazz musicians perform in Paris
Paris, November 9 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani jazz band has performed as part of international Jazz&Colors festival at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Paris, France.
Speaking at a ceremony prior to the performance, Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbeyov highlighted the history of jazz in Azerbaijan. He praise the Azerbaijani government`s attention to culture and arts, including jazz.
The Ambassador noted that in the last 15 years, capital Baku had hosted an international Jazz festival, which brings together a number of world famous jazz musicians including Marcus Miller, Bob James, David Sanborn, Kenny Garret, as well as Azerbaijani jazzmen Salman Gambarov, Isfar Sarabsky, Shahin Novrasli, and Elchin Shirinov.
Azerbaijan`s jazz trio Elchin Shirinov (piano), Selim Mammadov (bass guitar) and Elvin Bashiriov (drums) performed works by great Azerbaijani composers Fikrat Amirov, Rafig Babayev and Elchin Shirinov, as well as Western composers.
The concert was attended by French public, art and culture figures, Azerbaijani MPs, employees of the Azerbaijani representation to UNESCO, diaspora members and students.
The young Azerbaijani jazz musicians will also give a concert in Grenoble, a city in southeastern of France on Saturday.
