Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes holds several meetings in France
Paris, May 24 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan’s Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov has held a number of meetings as part of his working visit to France.
Mammadov met French Junior Minister for Budget Christian Eckert to discuss ways of developing the bilateral relations in the fields of business and investment making. The French Junior Minister said his country was ready to create all conditions for Azerbaijani investors.
Mammadov provided an insight into Azerbaijan`s tax system.
He highlighted the latest achievements in the country`s tax system, particularly the application of e-services.
The Minister pointed to an Azerbaijan-related twinning project as part of the European Union’s assistance to Azerbaijan, whose tender was won by France and Spain.
Mammadov also noted the importance of France’s assistance to Azerbaijan in developing human resources in the field of taxes.
Eckert said France was ready to help Azerbaijan in implementing the twinning project.
Mammadov said Azerbaijan would soon sign the Strasbourg Convention on the exchange of banking information.
Eckert hailed French President Francois Hollande’s recent visit to Azerbaijan, saying it increased the two countries` interest in boosting the bilateral cooperation.
Mammadov invited the French Junior Minister to visit Azerbaijan.
Mammadov, who is also the President of Azerbaijan`s Wrestling Federation, also met his French counterpart Alain Bertholom.
Bertholom praised the fact Azerbaijan would host the first European Games in 2015, expressing readiness to provide any assistance to the country in promoting the Games in France.
Mammadov also met Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Jose Angel Gurria.
They signed a protocol on Azerbaijan’s joining the amendments to the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters adopted by the OECD in 1988.
They hailed the relations between Azerbaijan and the OECD.
Angel Gurria praised Azerbaijan`s joining the amendments to the Convention, saying it was a strong sign of transparency of the country`s tax system.
Mammadov invited Angel Gurria to visit Azerbaijan.
