Azerbaijani MPs object to provocation in European Parliament
Baku, October 8 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani MPs Asim Mollazade, Fuad Muradov and Chingiz Asadullayev have held a press conference in response to provocation against Azerbaijan at “Azerbaijan`s Presidential Election: What Future for the Land of Fire?” seminar organized by the European Parliament.
Mr Muradov said the issue of ethnic separatism and biased statements by separatist organizations on ethnic discrimination in Azerbaijan were raised at “Azerbaijan's Presidential Election: What Future for the Land of Fire?” seminar. “The event was attended by representatives of organizations that had nothing to do with it. They alleged that there is an ethnic discrimination and the rights of national minorities are violated in Azerbaijan. The aim was to distract Azerbaijan from the path of European integration through separatism. We said that it is a provocation. We objected to these discussions that did not coincide with the title of the seminar, and stated that these claims against Azerbaijan are groundless.”
Mr Mollazade said the Azerbaijani parliamentarians strongly objected to the discussions. They noted that Azerbaijan was a democratic, secular state, and was known as an example of tolerance in the world.
“The national minorities, religions enjoy equal rights in our country. There is sufficient legal framework for this.”
The parliamentarians also called on the Azerbaijanis all over the world to react to such cases in Europe.
