AZERBAIJANI NATIONAL UNIFIGHT TEAM RANKS FIRST IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Azerbaijani female athletes have won six medals in a world women’s unifight championship, which wrapped up July 18 at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex.

Nazanin Mammadova (52 kg), Khanim Mammadova (57 kg) and Gozel Zutova (63 kg) beat their contenders in the finals to mount the highest step on the podium. Gulnare Gulmammadova (52 kg) and Irina Leonidze (over 70 kg) gained silver while Anna Dzadzamiya (70 kg) claimed bronze.

Russian athletes Larisa Sidorova (70 kg) and Nadejda Shemiakina (over 70 kg) snatched gold medals.

According to President of the Azerbaijan Unifight Federation Azer Hasanov, the tournament brought together 56 athletes from 25 countries. Azerbaijan was represented with 7 athletes.

In conclusion, Azerbaijan and Russia clashed in a friendly bouts. Two of 3 Azerbaijani athletes were stronger in the bouts with Russian rivals.
