Azerbaijani, Palestinian FMs meet in Ramallah

As part of his official visit to Palestine, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Riyad Al Maliki.
The pair discussed topical issues of the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda and regional situation.
Minister Bayramov underlined an important role of Azerbaijan-Palestine high-level visits and existence of political dialogue in development of bilateral relations based on friendship, solidarity and mutual respect.
The sides expressed confidence that establishment of a representative office of Azerbaijan in the city of Ramallah of the State of Palestine would make a significant contribution to expansion of relations between the two countries.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan supports the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in line with the UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his Palestinian counterpart on the post-conflict regional situation, adding Azerbaijan is determined to continue its efforts to establish peace and security in the region and press ahead with the peace agenda with Armenia notwithstanding this country’s provocations.
Al Maliki spoke about the outlook for bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Palestine, and underlined the importance of stepping up efforts towards development of bilateral relations. He pointed out that political consultations between the two countries make a great contribution to the existing political dialogue. Al Maliki praised Azerbaijan’s humanitarian support and underlined the importance of expanding this support. He lauded the Azerbaijan’s scholarship program provided for the Palestinian students.
