Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker meets Maltese Speaker of House of Representatives
Baku, October 11 (AZERTAC). Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has today met Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta, head of the country’s observation mission Angelo Farrugia.
The Maltese Speaker shared his impression on the election process with Ogtay Asadov.
Ogtay Asadov stressed importance of such meetings in boosting bilateral and interparliamentary ties between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani Speaker thanked his counterpart Angelo Farrugia and the Maltese delegation for their participation in the presidential election held in Azerbaijan on October 9.
Speaking of the result of election in the country, Mr. Asadov noted that it was the indicator of the trust of the people in their president.
Mr. Angelo Farrugia spoke of the bilateral ties between the two countries.
He noted that Malta enjoyed good relationship with Azerbaijan.
According to the Maltese government Azerbaijan rapidly moves toward the democracy.
“I eye-witnessed that the election process held in a democratic manner. We started to observe the election in Shamakhi district at 8:00 local time. Voters came and easily casted their ballots. It is one of the most important thinks. We exchanged views with the OSCE, Russia and U.S. monitors. After talks our unanimous opinion was that the election was held in a fair, democratic and transparent manner.”
They also discussed issues of mutual concern.
