Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister meets OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs
Baku, November 4 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov has today met the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ambassadors Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, Jacques Faure of France, and James Warlick of the United States of America, and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk.
They discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and current situation on the contact line.
The Defense Minister highlighted regional situation, the occupation of Azerbaijan’s lands by Armenia, and problems of IDPs in the country.
He spoke of what international organizations have been doing to find a solution to the dispute, calling it “unsuccessful work”.
Minister Hasanov draw the Co-Chairs` attention to a recent statement by the commander of the Russian military base No102 in Armenia, stressing the necessity of giving an official response to it.
Russian Co-Chair Popov said the incident will be investigated, adding he doest not rule out that it is just a misunderstanding.
The Defense Minister said Azerbaijan has big potential in army building, and highlighted the country`s efforts to bring its Armed Forces in line with modern standards.
First Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel-General Nejmeddin Sadigov was presented at the meeting.
