AZERBAIJAN’S MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE MEETS UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov today has met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Bruno Pouezat, Ministry’s press service said.
Minister congratulated Mr. Pouezat with his appointment and wished him success. Mr. Abbasov underlined that UN supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, and as early as 1993, the Council of Security adopted the four resolutions to release the Azerbaijan territories from Armenian occupation. But, Armenia ignores the resolutions and continues its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan.
Minister noted that Azerbaijan closely cooperates with the UN specialized agencies and participates in the various projects and programs. Since 1995, Azerbaijan is a member of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Mr. Abbasov underscored that FAO office will be soon opened in Azerbaijan. He noted that UN successfully carries out the Sustainable Development and Poverty Reduction Program in Azerbaijan.
Mr. Pouzet, in his turn, stressed that opening the FAO office will give new impulse to the cooperation. Resident-coordinator highly appreciated the Azerbaijan government’s efforts aimed at developing the agrarian sector in the country.
The sides shared views on other issues of mutual interest.
