Azerbaijan’s Shusha, Japanese Kyoto cities discuss strengthening bilateral ties

As part of his visit to Japan, Special Representative of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha district Aydin Karimov has visited the city of Kyoto and met with Mayor of the city, Chairperson of the League of Historical Cities Daisaku Kadokawa.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the activities of Shusha in the League of Historical Cities as well as exchanged views on further strengthening of relations and cooperation between Shusha and Kyoto, which are both members of the League and enjoy rich history and culture.
Mayor of Kyoto Daisaku Kadokawa said he is well informed about the restoration and reconstruction works underway in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region and Shusha city. He hailed the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards ensuring peace in the post-conflict period, the works done to return Azerbaijanis to their homeland as well as the restoration and reconstruction projects carried out in the liberated territories.
Special Representative of Azerbaijani President in Shusha district Aydin Karimov invited Chairperson of the League of Historical Cities Daisaku Kadokawa to pay a visit to Shusha.
The Special Representative was accompanied by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismayilzade.
Azerbaijan’s city of Shusha became member of the League of Historical Cities during the 18th World Conference of the League held in Andong, South Korea on November 14-16, 2022.
