AZERIGAS CHIEF HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE ON RESULTS OF 2007
Chairman of the Azerigas joint-stock company Alikhan Melikov held a press conference Friday at the headquarters of the New Azerbaijan Party.
Melikov reported on the results of Azerigas`s activity in 2007. He said the company stored 10 bln 157 mln cubic meters of gas in 2007 of which 9 bln 107 mln cm came from the SOCAR and 1 bln 050 mln from the underground gas storage facilities. Gas storage facilities received 866 mln cm. The company reserved 1 bln 210 mln cm. The reserved gas allowed meeting the consumers` demand with no major problems occurring during the wintertime.
In total, Azerigas sold 5 bln 360 mln cubic meters of gas, earning 178 mln manats - 56% of the gas sold. Azerigas sold 2 bln 48 mln cm of gas to the population, ensuring 58.8% payment of gas bills. Of the overall money earned, Azerigas transferred AZN 43 mln 100 thousand to the state budget, AZN 10 mln 100 thousand to the State Social Protection Fund, 33 mln 500 thousand to the SOCAR and spent AZN 29 mln on salaries.
Azerigas chief said gas meter installation work is 95.4% complete. It is going to be finished this April.
Melikov said Azerigas has successfully fulfilled its tasks resulting from the State Program on Socio-Economic Development of Regions. It resumed gas supplies to 78 thousand people in 18 regions and supplied some 1000 people with gas in Agjabedi. This year, Beylagan region is to be supplied with gas.
The company has done much work to improve gas supplies to the settlements surrounding Baku, laying 270 km new gas lines.
