AzerTAc to hold presidency of OANA and NAWC in 2016-2019
Baku, March 1 (AZERTAC). The year 2013 was successful and unforgettable for both Azerbaijan, which achieved great accomplishments in the political, economic and social fields and for Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) with its successes in the world media industry. AZERTAC`s successful activities in the world media industry resulted in the decisions on AZERTAC`s hosting simultaneously the meetings of the world’s two reputable media organizations in 2016 - the 16th General Assembly of the Organization of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the 5th World Congress of News Agencies (NAWC).
These decisions were made on September 20 in Moscow at the 15th OANA General Assembly and November 20 at the 4th World Congress of News Agencies held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After the Baku meetings, AZERTAC will take over presidency of OANA and NAWC in 2016-2019.
The OANA General Assembly in Moscow discussed topical problems of journalism in the media landscape of the Asia-Pacific region. The event brought together the heads of 44 news agencies from 35 countries. They discussed the role and development trends of the media outlets in the globalizing world, transmedia communication problems, global and regional factors in transformation of the media market. The OANA meeting saw the re-election of AZERTAC Director General Aslan Aslanov as an Executive Board member for the third time in a row and his election as the OANA Vice-President.
The World Congress of News Agencies organized in Riyadh by the Saudi Press Agency discussed hot issues and challenges facing the world media industry. It brought together heads of over 70 reputable news agencies, OANA, EANA, FANA, IINA news alliances, Sky News Arabia, Los-Angeles Times, Guardian, BBC and famous MSN, Google, YAHOO internet corporations.
These prestigious events were important in terms of discussing the problems modern media faces and searching the ways of their solution.
