The 6th International Geophysics Conference with the support of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Azerbaijan’s National Geophysics Committee and Borehole Studies Association of Russia today has begun in Baku, SOCAR said.

Addressing the meeting, head of SOCAR’s geophysics and geology department Taleh Hasanov told of significance of the International geophysics conference.

President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev told of success of the new oil strategy initiated by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the work done in the field of geophysics and geology.

The conference participants spoke of development of geophysics in the country and the forthcoming studies.

Over 80 delegates from various countries, including Great Britain, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and China attend the event.

SOCAR, Bp, Baker Hughes, Statoil Hydro, Caspian Geophysical, Wintershall, Halliburton, CNLC Company and AIS Association are among the sponsors.

The conference will end on October 16.
