BAKU MAIN POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMS UP 9-MONTH RESULTS
Reporting Deputy Chief of the Department, Colonel Shahmar Pashayev called the socio-political stability prevailing in the country, unity achieved between people and power, the fact of commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to export Azeri oil to Europe, the best evidences of Azerbaijan’s being one of the leading states in Eurasia.
He announced that between January and September of 2006, 6099 crimes were registered in Baku, of which 680 were high ones. The figure, said Colonel Pashayev, is 24,3 percent more than that of the same period of the last year. But the growth, according to him, occurred mainly due to blows, hooliganism, fraud and other low crimes. In his words, the number of premeditated murders has gone down from 54 to 49 and of murderous assault from 25 to 24 that became possible due to proper undertaking of preventive measures.
Speaking of the shortcomings occurred in the work of the Department over the reporting period Colonel Pashayev said 10 middle-ranked and 43 private and lower-ranked personnel of the Department were expelled from interior bodies, and 41 were dismissed from their posts.
Chief of the Baku Main Police Department Lieutenant-General Maharram Aliyev described ensuring of socio-political stability, as well as increase in effectiveness of search operations and investigative and preventive measures as achievements of the Department, adding however, that every staff member, if committed offences, would be seriously punished.
