Baku submits Applicant City file to International Olympic Committee
Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). Baku has become an official bidder for 2020 Olympics after submitting its applicant City file to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Baku is the fourth bidding city to submit its Applicant City file after Tokyo, Doha and Madrid.
Istanbul will submit its Applicant City file tomorrow morning on the deadline day.
Earlier today Rome pulled out of the race to host the event to leave just five cities standing.
Azerbaijan`s delegation in Lausanne included minister of youth and sports Azad Rahimov, AFFA secretary general Elkhan Mammadov, Azeri ambassador to Switzerland Murad Najafbayli, Olympic champion Zemfira Meftahaddinova, Paralympic champion Ilham Zakiyev and CEO of Baku 2020 organizing Committee Konul Nurullayeva.
