Basketball: Giant Russian basketball player Sizonenko dead
Baku, January 6 (AZERTAC). Former Soviet Union basketball star Alexander Sizonenko, who was also Russia`s tallest man at 2.45 metres (8ft), has died at the age of 52.
Sizonenko died in St Petersburg after a long illness, Russian media reported, without giving further details.
After playing for the St Petersburg-based Spartak club from 1976-9, Sizonenko joined Stroitel in what is now Samara after the fall of the Soviet Union, and finished his career there.
