BP to support Azerbaijan at London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Baku, January 26 (AZERTAC). BP-Azerbaijan has signed a partnership agreement with the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee to support the national teams and a group of Azerbaijani athletes preparing for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The document was signed by BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Rashid Javanshir, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade and President of the National Paralympic Committee Ilgar Rahimov.
Under the contract, BP-Azerbaijan has become the official partner of the Azerbaijan National Olympic and Paralympic Committees for the London 2012 Games.
Addressing the event, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Rashid Javanshir said that the company was glad to support the National Olympic Committee and Paralympic Committee, as well as Azerbaijani sportsmen.
“The signing of this agreement coincides with the 20th anniversary of the operations of BP in Azerbaijan. BP plans to remain for a long time in Azerbaijan, a country with a strong and stable economy developing towards its strategic role. BP-Azerbaijan will function for a long time and initiate different projects,” Rashid Javanshir added.
Deputy Minister of Youth ans Sports Ismayil Ismayilov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade and President of the National Paralympic Committee Ilgar Rahimov praised the company`s attention to development of sports in Azerbaijan.
It was noted Azerbaijani sportsmen gained 30 spots, while paralympians 22 places to the London Olympic Games.
