BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO AZERBAIJAN MEETS WITH BSU STAFF
Carolyn Browne, British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wednesday met with tutors and students of the Baku State University (BSU).
In her remarks, the Ambassador said that supporting program of democratic reforms Great Britain contributes to Azerbaijan’s integration into the European Union (EU).
Making a speech at the event Abel Maharramov, Rector of BSU noted that the University was planning to cooperate with Great Britain’s ten leading universities, adding that cooperation with the University of Edinburgh is already underway.
According to the rector, thanks to Professor Nargiz Pashayeva, Vice-President of the University, inter-university contacts between the higher educational institutions of both countries have notably increased.
A. Maharramov appreciated the traditional meetings held with the heads of the Chinese, Korean, Russian diplomatic corps functioning in the country.
Speaking about Great Britain’s foreign policy, the Ambassador said her diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan aims at mediating between the two countries’ governmental bodies, as well as realizing Great Britain’s international priorities.
Answering the questions of the students, the Ambassador highly appreciated intellectual level of the Azerbaijani youth.
Professor Nargiz Pashayeva expressed her gratitude to the Ambassador for participating in the meeting.
