BRUNO HALLER MEETS MEMBERS OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION TO PACE
He also stressed that former head of Azerbaijan’s delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, PACE Vice-President and Bureau member, now President of the Republic Ilham Aliyev pays particular attention to development of relations of the country with European structures.
According the Mr. Seyidov, Azerbaijan has fulfilled the greater part of the obligations and commitments assumed in entry.
The PACE Secretary General expressed gratitude for the warm meeting and noted that despite it is his first visit to Azerbaijan, he possesses detailed information about the country. He expressed satisfaction that President Ilham Aliyev is successfully continuing to pursue the policy defined by outstanding political figure Heydar Aliyev. Mr. Haller noted as well that the Council of Europe is very interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan, and believes that its joint activity with President Ilham Aliyev and the Parliament will allow to achieve a great deal.
Mr. Samad Seyidov noted in his turn, that Azerbaijan is also interested in expanding relations with the countries of the region, but continuing Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and violated territorial integrity of the country cause certain problems for that. He expressed hope that joint efforts of the international community would facilitate fair resolution of the conflict and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan would be restored. Only in this case, the regional cooperation will be possible in full measure, Samad Seyidov added.
During the meeting, a number of other issues of mutual interest have been discussed, as well.

Afterwards, PACE Secretary General Mr. Bruno Haller met Chief of the Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzayev and other officials. Mr. Mirzayev informed the guest in detailed on activities of the Milli Majlis, particularly, measures being taken towards strengthening of legislative basis.
