CHAIRMAN OF MILLI MAJLIS MEETS WITH MALAYSIAN MINISTER IN PRIME-MINISTER`S DEPARTMENT
Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) met February 15 with the Malaysian Minister in Prime-Minister’s Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.Mr. Asadov highlighted that after gaining its independence in 1991, Azerbaijan has integrated to the world community. Azerbaijan attaches important significance to development of the relations with Malaysia, he said.
Speaking of development of Azerbaijan economy, Mr. Asadov informed on work done in the non-oil sector of the republic. Within past 10 years, over $ 30 bln has been invested in Azerbaijan economy. Azerbaijan takes leading positions in the region. Azerbaijan is the initiator of the projects of construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
Chairman of Milli Majlis dwelt on history of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and its hard consequences. He thanked the Malaysian government in support of Azerbaijan government’s position within the framework of the international norms.
Mr. Abdulaziz, in his turn thanked for a warm reception and stressed that the government of Malaysia keens in enhancement of cooperation with Azerbaijan in all areas, including interparliamentary ties.
The sides shared views on other issues of mutual concern.
