China's Xinhua news agency releases article highlighting Azerbaijan`s Ganja city
Baku, March 31, AZERTAC
China’s official Xinhua news agency has published an article featuring the city of Ganja.
Liu Shuchen’s article highlights Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second-largest city, 300 km west of Baku, where locals warmly welcome Xinhua reporters and celebrate the legacy of the 12th-century poet Nizami Ganjavi. The city, a historic Silk Road hub, inspired characters in Nizami’s works.
Today, Ganja is a growing center for China–Azerbaijan cooperation. The Middle Corridor of the Belt and Road passes through the city, and Yutong buses now make up 84% of its public transport fleet. In September 2025, 235 new Euro 6 buses arrived, ferried from the Alat port.
The author noted that China’s presence extends beyond transport, with the Western Industrial Park, opened in January 2026, attracting several Chinese companies.
The article concludes with special emphasis that cooperation now covers services and agriculture, with a Chinese medicine clinic and a MINISO store opening soon, and mushroom cultivation technology from China planned at the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University by 2027.
