CLOSING CEREMONY OF "RUSSIAN YEAR" IN AZERBAIJAN
President Ilham Aliyev attended the closing ceremony of the "Russian Year" in Azerbaijan.
In his opening remarks, Premier of the Russian Federation Mikhail Fradkov said the latest years have been especially important in the history of Russian-Azeri relations. The presidents of two countries Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin initiated the idea of exchange of years. Carrying out of these Years, according to the Russian Prime Minister, became demonstration of deep and sincere interest of the people of Russia and Azerbaijan in strengthening centuries-old traditions of friendship and good neighborhood. Taken place actions have shown rich potential of two states, which should be used actively for the further development of multisided interaction, Mr. Fradkov emphasized.
Summing up Year of Russia in Azerbaijan, the head of the government of the Russian Federation has told: “We tried to present to the friendly Azerbaijani people as much as possible full picture of modern Russia, to tell about its achievements in political, economic, humanitarian spheres”.
Prime Minister M. Fradkov has assessed also the information support to the Year, rendered both by Russian, and the Azerbaijani side. “The purposes of Years were adjustment of direct human dialogue, strengthening of mutual understanding, friendship of people of two countries and they have been reached”, said the head of the government of Russia. He has expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister and everyone who has made efforts for carrying out of the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan at so high level.
In his remarks, Premier of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade has noted that Azerbaijan and Russia are connected with old history of mutual relations. “At all times, our people felt to each other warm feelings, and it is very important, that all is kept and developed positively”, - the head of the Azerbaijan government has emphasized.
“Year by year, the relations between two countries become increasingly dynamical and substantial”, the Prime Minister has told. “Our states build the relations in spirit of strategic partnership that is a good example of what should be cooperation between the neighbors.
Premier of Azerbaijan has expressed gratitude to the Russian side for active participation in carrying out of the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan.
After the official part of ceremony, gala concert with participation of stars of the Russian ballet took place.
