Conference on Azerbaijan held at Carleton University of Canada
Baku, January 30 (AZERTAC). A conference titled “Azerbaijan: Yesterday and today” has been held at the Carleton University of Canada.
The conference was chaired by director of the University`s Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies Jeff Sahadeo.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Canada Farid Shafiyev stressed the importance of scientific researches and student exchange in terms of development of relations between the two countries.
The winner of the essay contest dedicated to the jubilee of prominent Azerbaijani politician Alimardan bay Topchubashov was awarded at the event.
The event saw presentations by Professor of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University Rashad Ibadov “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Mammad Amin Rasulzade”, Chair of the Canada-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Barry Devolin “Role of Parliamentarians on bilateral diplomacy” and employee of the Centre for Strategic Studies of Azerbaijan Heydar Mirza “Current geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus region and Azerbaijan`s foreign policy”.
A presentation of “Forgotten conflict” book written by Swiss journalist and photojournalist Andre Widmer took place on the sidelines of the conference.
Speaking at the audience, Widmer provided an insight into a history, current state and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Swiss journalist`s book has been dedicated to the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute.
