CONGRESS OF BENELUX AZERBAIJANIS HELD IN AMSTERDAM
The aim of establishing CBA is to bring together Azerbaijanis and Turkish-speaking societies of Benelux countries and coordinate their activity. The CBA action platform included the major directions to strengthen the coordination between Azerbaijani compatriots and their homeland, ensure solidarity of Turkish-speaking nations, protect national moral values and popularize Azerbaijan in the European countries.
The Majlis of Iraqi Turkmans functioning in the Benelux Countries joined the congress as well. The congress approved the CBA statute, flag, board and chairman. Founder of the Netherlands-Azerbaijan Society Sahil Gasimov was elected as CBA chairman.
Speaking at the conference chairman of the Committee for Working with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad Nazim Ibrahimov told of the objectives of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev-initiated first forum of Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas scheduled for 2007 in Baku.
On behalf of the conference participants, the address was adopted to President Ilham Aliyev.
The conference was followed by the concert.
