Construction of Medical Point in Gullutepe Village of Masalli Region ends
Baku, June 12 (AZERTAC). Hand-over ceremony of the project for “Construction of Medical Point in Gullutepe Village of Masalli Region” implemented within the Framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” provided by the Government of Japan will be held on June 13.
According to the Japanese embassy to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Tsuguo Takahashi will attend the event.
The Grant Contract for the aforementioned project was signed between the Embassy of Japan and the NGO “Development 2006 Social Support Public Union” on September 13, 2013. The aim of the project is to improve access to medical services for the residents of Gullutepe village as well as surrounding 5 villages. The number of the beneficiaries from the project is about 6.800 persons. Total amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for this project is about USD 110,957.
Two projects had been contracted in Masalli region so far, including this one. The previous project was in 2003 on the construction of school in Mollaoba village of Masalli region. The amount was USD 74,082.
The “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” support projects applied by municipalities, medical institutions, and NGOs, aiming directly at the improvement of living standards of Azerbaijani people. Such projects might be implemented in the field of poverty reduction, social protection, infrastructure, public health and increase of incomes. The total number of projects contracted in Azerbaijan including this time is 183, and the amount is USD 15,305,706.
The total amount of Japan`s Official Development Assistance provided for the Republic of Azerbaijan is over $1 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, cultural field as well as human capacity development.
