A Vietnamese delegation led by Pham Minh Son, Rector of the Academy of Journalism and Communication of Vietnam visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) on Thursday to discuss media relations.
Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the AZERTAC Board, highlighting the deep historical roots of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations, described the close cooperation between AZERTAC and Vietnam’s VNA news agency as exemplary in the media sector. He noted that both agencies, recognizing the evolving media landscape, have decided to renew their cooperation agreement to elevate their long-term partnership to a new level.
“We are already working on a new draft project. I hope that we will open a new chapter in cooperation by signing the agreement in a short span of time,” Vugar Aliyev said.
Pham Minh Son said he was deeply impressed with Azerbaijan’s achievements over the recent years. He pointed out the pivotal role AZERTAC and VNA play as the leading news agencies in disseminating accurate news.
“Our academy has trained over 1,000 journalists to date, including staff from VNA. We place a strong emphasis on developing young journalists and improving their foreign language proficiency,” he noted.
The discussions also revolved around media literacy, combating fake news, impact of social media on media landscape, and journalist exchange programs. The Vietnamese delegation was also briefed about the upcoming COP29 Conference in Baku.
The delegation also toured AZERTAC's premises to view the facilities provided for journalists.
