Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Valeh Alasgarov met today with visiting Member of the House of Lords of the Parliament of Great Britain, Baroness O'Cathain.

Valeh Alasgarov said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to development of relations with Great Britain.

He noted economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries are rapidly developing.

“The British BP company is involved in producing oil and gas in our country. British companies also show interest in cooperation in non-oil sector. The fact that Great Britain is supporting Azerbaijan in implementation of large-scale energy projects in the region demonstrates that our relations are built on solid foundation”, Valeh Alasgarov added.

Both Valeh Alasgarov and Baroness O'Cathain stressed the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Baroness O'Cathain said she is satisfied with her current visit.

She pointed to Azerbaijan’s all-round development, saying the country has strengthened its positions in the region.
