Egyptian “Al-Jamahir” newspaper publishes Azerbaijani ambassador`s article
Cairo, July 3 (AZERTAC). The Egypt-based “Al-Jamahir” newspaper has published an article of Azerbaijani ambassador to the country Shahin Abdullayev.
The ambassador says along with production of oil and gas, Azerbaijan has developed its agrarian sector and exports agricultural goods to foreign countries. He underlined since ancient times Azerbaijan has transported its goods to world market via the historic Silk Way. The Ambassador said the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Gars railway which would connect Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will end at the end of the current year, adding there is an opinion that the railway, which will play a role of bridge between the Asia and Europe, would connect Arabic countries.
Speaking about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Abdullayev said Armenian armed forces has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories, and noted that the UN Security Council adopted 4 resolutions demanding an unconditional and immediate withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Touching upon the OSCE Minsk group`s activity on the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat expressed regret that there was not any results despite the 20-year old negotiations.
He said the unemployment rate in Azerbaijan has been reduced to 5 percent, 1.2 mln new job places have been opened last year and 2014 has been declared as the “Year of industry”.
Highlighting the Egypt-Azerbaijan relations, the ambassador hailed the bilateral ties, saying Egypt was one of the first countries which recognized Azerbaijan`s independence. The diplomat also spoke of the activity of the joint economic commission between the two countries. Abdullayev noted Egypt was Azerbaijan`s door to Africa, Arabic and Islamic world.
