Egyptian newspaper Al-Jumhuriya interviews Azerbaijani FM
Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). The Egyptian newspaper Al-Jumhuriya has posted an interview with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
In his interview, Mammadyarov praises Azerbaijan-Egypt relations, saying the two countries` people are bound together by ties of history. The FM says the bilateral relations received a strong impulse when Azerbaijan regained its independence.
The Minister says political relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt were accompanied by mutual understanding, political consultations, bilateral meetings and cooperation in international organizations.
“We also share common views on global problems and international security issues.”
The Minister hailed economic and trade relations between the two countries, saying they also have growing cooperation in the energy area.
“Our countries enjoy good potential to develop cooperation in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceutics and tourism.”
Minister Mammadyarov also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, highlighting official Baku`s position.
The FM spoke of Azerbaijan`s activities as the UN Security Council`s non-permanent member, and the country`s contribution to international security and its role in intercivilization and intercultural dialogue.
