Egyptian newspaper features national leader Heydar Aliyev
Amman, December 28 (AZERTAC). The Egypt-based Al-Souq al-Arabiya newspaper has published an article dedicated to the 10th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s death by Azerbaijani ambassador to this country Shahin Abdullayev.
The ambassador mentioned in his article that people of Azerbaijan rose with the demand to bring national leader Heydar Aliyev back to the government against the backdrop of the worsening internal situation, which could have entailed civil war and loss of independence.
The great efforts of national leader Heydar Aliyev helped to sign ceasefire with Armenia, and conduct political reforms within short time and ink the contract of the century with the leading oil majors.
The political, economic and social reforms resulted in making Azerbaijan the country with enormous economic potential, adding the monetary reserves of the country exceeded 50 billion and jobless rate fell to 5%.
The diplomat also provided an insight into the foreign visits of national leader Heydar Aliyev, his meetings with the heads of state, in particular, his trip to Egypt in 1994 which opened the way to greater steps towards developing friendly relations between the two nations.
The Ambassador branded as Egyptian people’s respect to national leader the opening of the Heydar Aliyev street in the Egyptian province of Qalyubia, the Azerbaijan-Egypt friendship park, erection of the monument to Heydar Aliyev in the park.
