Egyptian October Weekly magazine publishes Azerbaijani envoy`s interview
Amman, December 28 (AZERTAC). The Egyptian October Weekly magazine has published Azerbaijani ambassador Shahin Abdullayev`s interview.
In his interview Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan was one of the rapidly developing countries of the world. He spoke of Azerbaijan’s energy policy, the country’s investment opportunities and achievements in all spheres.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador said Armenia’s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan resulted in the occupation of 20 percent of territories of the country, adding more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven from their original lands by force.
“As an integral part of the Islamic world with its historical past, religious, cultural and spiritual values, Azerbaijan`s accession to the Organization of the Islamic Conference in December 1991 opened up new horizons in international arena for the country. Azerbaijan has always received consistent support of OIC member states on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Abdullayev also spoke of the Azerbaijan-Egypt relationship stressing it was steadily developing. The ambassador particularly underlined the bilateral cooperation in tourism field.
The diplomat also told on Azerbaijan`s ancient historical monuments, including the pearl of the country`s architecture and culture, Icherisheher (Old City), which was granted UNESCO`s status of enhanced protection. He added it was also inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
