EGYPT’S AMBASSADOR VISITS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES INSTITUTE IN BAKU
Ambassador of Egypt to Azerbaijan Yusef Ahmad al Sharkawi visited the Institute of Information Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences on Friday, and met here with its Director, corresponding member of the Academy Rasim Aliguliyev.
Rasim Aliguliyev informed the Ambassador about the institute’s activities related to implementation of the projects under the State Program “Electronic Azerbaijan”, building an information society, application of information technologies a variety of fields, and scientific research.
Speaking of the rapidly developing Azerbaijan-Egypt relations, he underlined the importance of cooperation between the two country’s IT specialists.
Rasim Aliguliyev pointed to a number of ICT-related agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Egypt during the Information Society Summit in Tunisia in 2005, noting the significance of the meeting members of the Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Academic Ali Abbasov had with their Egyptian colleagues.
Ambassador Yusef Ahmad al Sharkawi, in turn, announced that the 3rd ICT-related meeting of the intergovernmental commission set up as a follow-up to the agreement signed between the two countries during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Egypt would be held in Azerbaijan.
He also informed about the IT projects being implemented in Egypt, and promised to do his best to promote expansion of cooperation between Egyptian IT universities and the Institute of Information Technologies of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
