Eight members of family killed as van plunged into ravine in Pakistan

In Pakistan, at least eight members of a family were killed and many others injured as a van plunged into a ravine in Kasur district of Punjab province early Friday.
Soon after the accident the Rescue and Emergency teams rushed to the scene and shifted the dead and the wounded to a local hospital. Police and Rescue officials said that the accident occurred as the vehicle veered off the road as the driver of the vehicle reportedly dozed off while driving.
According to the hospital sources, two of the injured persons are in critical condition. The ill-fated van met with an accident on Raiwind Road, killing eight persons on the spot and injuring many others.
As per reports, all the victims were returning after attending a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred. Road accidents are common in Pakistan which mostly occur due to poor road conditions, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
Earlier, another road accident in Punjab province resulted in 6 deaths while many others were injured, media reports said. The accident took place in Southern Rahim Yar Khan District.
