EU-AZERBAIJAN SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN BAKU
The sixth meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Subcommittee on Commerce, Economy and Appropriate Legal issues, which brought together the representatives of the international organizations in Baku and officials of the governmental structures, was held April 2 at the Baku Business Center.
Asgar Alakbarov, head of the foreign investments, technical and financial coordination department of the Ministry of Economic Development told of the rapid socio-economic development in Azerbaijan.
He, in particular, said: ``In January 2007, GDP reached 1647,0 mln AZN- an increase of 46,7% over 2006 figure . 357,2 mln manats were invested in the economy and social sectors; companies and organizations functioning in the republic received loans worth 2362,7 mln AZN``.
Nominal cash income of the population was 838,7 mln AZN while cash income per capita increased by 28,4%. As compared with the same period of the last year, trade turnover increased by 36% including import 25% and export 46,6%.
Special envoy of the European Commission to Azerbaijan Alan Adams said the EU-Azerbaijan relations deepened especially in the economic area.
The issues of transport and energy will be discussed on April 3.
