FINAL MEETING TO SHARE SHAHDENIZ GAS TO BE HELD IN ISTANBUL
Speaking at the conference entitled “Energy prospects of Turkey for sustainable development” held in Ankara, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler said that Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia continue talks on how to share Shahdeniz field gas with the final decision to be reached during upcoming meeting in Istanbul. Minister pointed out that Energy Ministers will take a final decision at the trilateral meeting to be attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev
H. Guler noted Turkey continues negotiations with the government of Iran to meet the country’s needs, saying Shahdeniz project is of great importance for cutting down the import of expensive gas from Russia. Therefore, negotiations with Georgia have produced no positive results so far.
