FIRST WELL PUT INTO COMMISSION IN SHAHDENIZ FIELD
The agreement 'On exploration of Shahdeniz field in Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea and production sharing' has been signed June 4, 1996 under the leadership of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. The partners of the agreement are State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), British ‘BP’, Norwegian ‘Statoil’, French ‘Total’, Russian ‘Lukoil’, Iranian ‘OEK’ and Turkish ‘TPAO’.
Another three wells will be put into commission in 2007. Thereby, natural gas producing in Azerbaijan will be transported to Georgia and Turkey through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, and, in future, to the European countries.
