FM MEETS WITH KAZAKH LEADER IN ASTANA
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana, press service of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Following the meeting, the Azerbaijan Minister gave a press conference, where he said he discussed a wide range of issues with the Kazakh leader.
“We have agreed that there are no political problems between us”, Elmar Mammadyarov said.
He said the issue of boosting the bilateral economic ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan was one of the main topics during his meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Minister said they also discussed the possibility of Kazakhstan’s joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline project.
“Kazakhstan is also interested in joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Qars railway project, and we discussed this issue”.
Enhancement of the bilateral ties between ports of Baku and Aktau as well as implementation of the Transcaspian project were also focused on during the conversation.
The Azerbaijan Minister and the Kazakh leader also discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Mr. Mammadyarov said he informed Nursultan Nazarbayev about what has been done towards a peaceful settlement of the dispute.
The Azerbaijan Minister said the Kazakh leader has always supported a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem in accordance with the principle of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Elmar Mammadyarov also said he explored with Mr. Nazarbayev ways of further deepening the bilateral humanitarian relations between the two countries, as well as the possibility of arranging the days of the Azerbaijan culture in Kazakhstan, and the days of the Kazakh culture in Azerbaijan.
