FM OF AZERBAIJAN MEETS US’ AMBASSADOR AT OSCE
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on 28 March met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mrs. Julie Finley.
Elmar Mammadyarov shared his views during the recent visit to the United States, informing on the discussions on expansion of relations between the two countries in the field of development of democracy, energy co-op and security.
Ambassador Mrs. Julie Finley took interest in the state of democratic processes in the country and the measures the Government of Azerbaijan took for implementation of the offers made by OSCE to improve the election processes in Azerbaijan.
Noting that conducting elections freely and in the frame of law are important elements of democracy building, the Minister updated on economic achievements in the country, welfare of people and rise of education level, which, according to him, are also the undeniable factors leading to democratization of society.
Azerbaijan is a secular state with majority of Moslem population and carrier of democratic values and does everything to improve the process of democratization, Elmar Mammadyarov emphasized.
In meeting, a number of others issues of mutual interest were in the focus.
